I’m genuinely curious why people have such an issue with people shipping Tarjei and Henrik.
Shipping is not stalking. I do not spam their social media asking about it (I have never even asked once) I respect their privacy.
All I am doing is simply appreciating their chemistry and thinking they’d make a cute couple, what’s wrong with that!?
I’m seriously wondering. The only argument I’ve seen is that they’re real people; NEWSFLASH! People fall in love literally every single day. Why does them being actors make it any different for them!? Do you know how many co-stars have fallen in love for real? Thousands. If not hundreds of thousands. Hell, it might even be millions! They are not robots. They are capable of love, why is me thinking they are in love such a horrible thing to some of you? I truly don’t understand…
where do i even begin with this lol
imagine being 17 years old, in your second year of high school, and you have a job. you’re very good at what you do and people start to think you’re in love with your coworker, even though it’s literally your job to act like you are. at the end of the day, you’re still a student in high school, and your work life is separate from your personal life. now imagine that instead of a few people coming into your workplace every now and then and saying “you two make such a great couple!”, there are hundreds. and not only are they saying you’re in love with your coworker, they’re posting their theories and fanfiction they’ve written about the two of you falling in love, about the two of you kissing, some even containing racy, graphic depictions of you two having sex, up on the wall for everyone who walks by to see, including your parents, friends, and other coworkers. this wasn’t what you signed up for, but these people are forcing themselves into your life and acting like it comes with the job description.
now imagine being tarjei and finding that kind of content about you and your coworker, who’s four years older than you. imagine one of your classmates finding it, or your family. would you feel anything less than disgusted and violated?
the difference between tarjei & henrik and all the actors you’re apparently so used to shipping is that they are not celebrities. they are normal people who go home to live normal lives once skam is finished filming. unlike actors in the american film industry, they have nothing that shields them from their fanbase. they could search “henrik and tarjei” on google and their fanfic tag on ao3 is one of the first things that comes up. people tag henrik and marlon and david in things on instagram and they see them. you yourself have a tag devoted to them on your blog, with “imagines” of what it’d be like if they were a couple as if they are fictional characters. do you know that one of tarjei’s friends found a tumblr post circulating about him and had to respond to it on his instagram? his friend, who has absolutely nothing to do with the show? the fact that it was going around in the first place and the fact that he eventually found it should tell you more than enough about why you should not put things like that out there on this site.
you do not need to be actively stalking them and commenting on their pictures for them to find these things because eventually, they will. if it’s not from you, they’ll find it from someone else who decided it was appropriate to bring to their attention. so instead of making this about your feelings and your right to fantasize about two people being in love with one another, put yourself in someone else’s shoes and ask yourself how you’d feel if somebody did that to you. thinking they’d be cute together is fine, not my cup of tea, but it’s whatever. keep your thoughts to yourself, because no matter what you think or how far you take it, it’s inappropriate and it’s wrong to post it where others can see.
